Joyce shared this with us several years before, but in 2020, she posted it for Mother's Day, saying a few words that highlight the kind of person her mom was:

I love this picture of my Mom and me in the 50s. Minnie Tenk Wopata Stanek— she was light years ahead of her time in many ways. Taught Bunker Hill country school in Pawnee County Nebraska; many years later helped run a small nursing home after my Dad died at an early age.

My parents believed in education, hard work and perseverance.  And polka dances (being 100% Czech). She made better cinnamon rolls, kolaches, fried chicken, and pies than I have ever had since. Her garden was amazing .

She loved my children so much, often sending them random cards on no special occasion .

We never know the trajectory our lives will take, but I’ll always be thankful for my Mom and early life in Table Rock, NE ❤️
