THE SOCHOR FAMILY

In 1872, Jan & Anna Sochor came from Opatov, Humpalec, in southern Moravia, with 4 children. They lived in a dug out near where Du Bois would eventually be established, eventually moving to a farm nearer to Table Rock. Anna died soon after a fifth child was born, and Jan did not remarry.

Labeled as Theresie Wenzl, mother of Joseph F. Vrtiska. However, based on the clothing, this is more likely Joseph Vrtiska's grandmothher, not mother. The mother in the family photograph anmd this elderly lady do not appear to be the same person, and this lady appears to be of an earlier era.
