the skillet family
Two tintypes of Bill and Anna Skillet are in very poor shape. They are extremely dark; here are two lightly retouched copies. Their eyes may have been the victims of an attempt to retouch the tintype, very unfortunate to say the least. Photos 1441 & 1442.
According to Bill's obituary (lower on this page), he and Anna were born and married in England, came to American in 1851 (when they were about 21 and 22), and came to Nebraska in 1860. It does not say when they came to Table Rock, whether it was 1860 or thereafter.

Who is this lovely young woman? This tintype of her was posted in the Argus museum between tintypes of William and Anna Skillet. If there had been a name tag, it was long gone. Is she a relative, perhaps a daughter? Or was her image grouped with Bill and Anna merely because they are tintypes? It is a mystery. Photo 1439.

At the table rock cemeteryThis grave is in the Table Rock cemetery. William's obituary in the Table Rock Argus says that he was buried in the "Mount Zion Cemetery." The date of death is the same; there is no Mount Zion Cemetery in present day. Perhaps the grave was moved.

who presumably was baby leo eddie's mother
These graves include Sarah Skillet. [This information will be updated to include all of the names. Are they family members, or simply four people whose temporary markers were saved?]

Jasper and Ella Skillett. They were the parents of Elsie Skillett Wopata, grandparents of Norma Wopata Binder. They also are probably the parents of Ralph Jasper Skillet, who died in the influenza pandemic, in 1919 at age 19. Thank you to Norma's son Richard for sharing this family photo.
