In 1863, Henry's family moved from Minnesota to a farm near Nebraska City. He was 2. He grew up there, and married Mary Feilen in 1890. She had been born in Illinois, and moved to the Nebraska City area in 1872, when she was three. Henry and Mary had six children, one of whom died as an infant. They were George Kreifel of Table Rock, Mrs. Edith Skillett of Nebraska City; Mrs. Ella Stoner of Table Rock; Walt Kreifel of Lincoln; and Harvey Kreifel of Nebraska City. Henry and Mary moved to Table Rock in October of 1902.
Henry & Mary's oldest child George, Sr., and wife are buried in the Table Rock Cemetery. All the others are buried in Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln. They are Edith Kreifel Skillet (1893-1982); she married James P. Skillet (1891-1967); they had at least two children, Edwin Skillet and Mable Skillet Rains (1913-2001, 1914-2003). Walter Kreifel (1903-1974) married Anna Hupka (1889-1982). They had one son, Bill (not William) on September 19, 1938. Bill passed in 2003. Harvey Kreifel was the youngest (1914-2001); he married Nellie (maiden name unknown); it is unknown whether he had any children.

OBITUARY- Mary Veronica Kreifel, nee Feilen, was born October 9, 1869, at Springfield, Ill., and departed this life at her home in Table Rock March 10, 1933, after only a few minutes illness. At the time of her death she was 63 years, 5 months and 1 day old. When a small child of about three, she and her parents moved from Illinois to Otoe county, Nebraska, and settled near Nebraska City. She was married to Henry P. Kreifel while living in Otoe, in February, 1890. This union was blessed with six children, four sons and two daughters. George J. Kreifel, Table Rock; Mrs. Edith Skillett, Nebraska City; Mrs. Ella Stoner, Bennett; Walter J. Kreifel, Lincoln; Jessie James Kreifel, who died in infancy, and Harvey J. Kreifel, Table Rock. She was brought up in the Catholic faith but since coming to Table Rock has been a frequent attendant of the Christian church, though not identified with it. She and her husband moved to Table Rock in October, 1902. She was bereaved of her husband April 17, 1930. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides her immediate family and nine grandchildren, two brothers, John and Henry Feilen, bot of Otoe county; three sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Paben of Nebraska City; Mrs. Anna Kreifel, Paul; and Mrs. Gertrude Kreifel, Lincoln; besides other more distant relatives and many friends who were shocked by her sudden and untimely departure. Funeral services were held in the Christian church Sunday afternoon by the pastor and a large number of friends were in attendance. henry & mary's son george & his wife blanche reeves kreifel (1891-1977, 1898-1999)
Henry & his wife Blanche lived grew up on the family farm near Nebraska City, and in 1916 married Blanche Reeves. They had four children: Beulah Kreifel Myers, Bernice Kreifel Hillers, Viola Kreifel Fredericks, & George Mr. ("Babe"). Blanche lived to be 101. As of 2020, their oldest daughter, Beulah, is alive and kicking at age 103 -- you can see pictures of her below.
OBITUARY- GEORGE KREIFEL, SR.
George John Kreifel, son of the late Henry Peter Kreifel and Mary Veronica Feilen Kreifel was born August 19, 1891, in Otoe County, southwest of Nebraska City, Nebr. He attended school in that vicinity. On March 22, 1916 he was united in marriage to Blanche Beulah Reeves in Tecumseh, Nebraska. Four children were born to this union, Beulah, Bernice, Viola and George,Jr. George worked very hard in farming and suffered with all the rest in the drought years. He was a great lover of horses and did all his farming with horses. He enjoyed visiting with friends and especially children. George was baptized as a child in the Catholic Church at Paul, Nebraska. About six months ago his health began failing, he passed away July 22, 1977 at Pawnee County Memorial Hospital in Pawnee City, Nebraska, having reached the age of 85 years, 11 months and 8 days. In his passing he is survived by his wife Blanche of their home, Mrs. David (Beulah) Myers, Rosemaad, California, Mrs. Albert (Bernice) Hillers, Table Rock, Nebraska, Mrs. Viola Fredericks of Table Rock, Nebraska, George Kreifel,Jr., Table Rock, Nebraska; seven grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Skillett, Nebraska City, Mrs. Ella Stoner, Eagle Creek, Washington; nieces and nephews and a legion of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two grandchildren and a son-in-law. Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 26, 1977 at the Wherry Chapel in Table Rock, Nebraska with Rev. Ward Merritt officiating. Mrs. Robert Freeman was soloist, Mrs. George Tomek played the organ and the pallbearers wer Harlan Findlay, Sandy Rowland, Willard Hanna, Lawrence Wenzbauer, William Marfice, Kenneth Edwards. Interment was in the Table Rock Cemetery, Table Rock, Nebraska. |

GEORGE KREIFEL, JR.
George was born Feb. 3, 1924 in Table Rock, Pawnee, NE. parents were: George John and Blanche Beulah (Reeves) Kreifel. graduated from Table Rock High School in 1942. He entered the Army in July 1943, was in combat as a B.A.R. man in the Aluetians, Marshalls Islands(Guam) Philippine Islands (Leyte). he joined a 44 ship convoy to invade Okinawa on April 1, 1945. He was wounded in action on the front lines April 13, 1945. He then spent 9 months in the hospital in Texas. He received his honorable discharge on Jan. 30, 1946. He was awarded a purple heart, Asiatic/Pacific Campaign medal with 2 Bronze Stars, WWII Victory Medal, Sharp Shooter Award and Efficiency Medal. He was united in marriage Oct. 15, 1950 at Pleasant Valley Churh in Pawnee City, NE. to Leota Mae Callan, They had 6 children: Ardella Sue, Gregory Allen, Lisa Marie, twin sons, Bradley David and Bruce Dean and Denise Ann. The twins both died. survived by 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. |
LEOTA KREIFEL
Leota Mae (Callam) Kreifel, 81 of Table Rock, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in Humboldt, Nebraska. She was born on February 3, 1931 to Rueben and Vera (Slater) Callam in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She graduated from eighth grade at country school Greendale, then, in 1948, graduated from Pawnee City High School. Leota was united in marriage to George "Babe" Kreifel,Jr. on October 15, 1950 at Pleasant Valley Church south of Pawnee City, Nebraska. To this union six children were born, Ardella Sue "Susie", Gregory Allen, Lisa Marie, twin sons, Bradley David and Bruce Dean, and Denise Ann. Leota worked at the Production Management Association office for two years, worked in dietary 13 years at the Pawnee Manor, and she continued to be a housewife, loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of American Legion, Auxiliary Post 289 in Table Rock since 1969 and V.F.W. Auxiliary since 1971, and also served 37 years on the Table Rock Cemetery Board. She was preceded in death by her husband George "Babe", parents Reuben and Vera Callam, twin sons, Bradley and Bruce Kreifel, brother-in-law, Ed Oenbring, granddaughter April Renee Kreifel, infant sister. |
