This original document, with a green wax seal, is an official transcript of an official record. It is the 1855 declaration of Magnus Taylor of his Intent to Become a Citizen. This was the beginning of the naturalization process. It is Document 52.
How does this fit in with the Table Rock Taylors? FindaGrave.com has only one Magnus Taylor -- a Magnus F. Taylor, born in Scotland, 28 years old in 1857.....when he died, and was buried in St. Louis. Is it the same? The script of the time is difficult to read -- an F or I or T were similar or almost identical depending on the writer. If this is the same Magnus Taylor buried in St. Louis, how did this document get to Table Rock?
