Buildings on the West and South side of the Square. I haven't found any of the East side that show the street, and only a few on the North side.

fROM THE jULY 11, 1940 arGUS, a photo from 1887
The above photo is startling. Nothing remains of this part of the business district. The brick building in the background is the Odd Fellows building. Not the one we see now, which was built in 1901 after the first building -- this one -- burned. Where are the bank, the opera house, the Legion building? Not built for another five or six years after this photo was taken. You are looking at the buildings that were taken down to accommodate them.
According to the Argus, the building 3rd from right was stills standing at that time. It's difficult to see enough detail from this newspaper clipping to make things out, but here is a picture from the 1940s to compare with. The newspaper article says that the store on the far right in this lower picture was occupied by Charles Harlow at the time but was the Norris Store in 1887.
