old settlers picnic
This reportedly was a regular event for many years. Here is a photo owned by the Historical Society that is labeled as a group for Old Settlers Day. (Delores Penkava has the same picture and it is labeled as a gathering of Civil War vets.) Whatever gathering it was, it is a great picture!
Home Comers Day
People who used to live here were welcomed home in such gatherings. Here is an ad for one in 1915:
