printing equipment in the museum
the main press
The press says that it is by the Campbell Company of New York and Chicago. It appears to have been hand operated and then retrofitted with an electric motor. The front page of the last issue of the Argus is still in the press. The press runs. We have recently gotten two of the ink rollers refurbished. The museum is being remodeled but we hope to reopen by mid-September and to demonstrate the running of this press.

job presses
There are two job presses. They are different sizes. When the museum opened in 1976, the large Campbell press was identified as being from 1885, but the press itself bears the forged imprint of Campbell. These presses appear to be Miehle presses and perhaps they are the presses intended by the original museum people for the label.
