Photo notes, Photos 401-500
Photos 404, 405, and 406 show a circus/carnival performer balancing on a large white ball. The Historical Society’s copy has no date. However, the photo is in the “1976 Bicentenniel Pictorial Album Pawnee County Nebraska.” Unfortunately, the pages of that voluminous publication are not numbered, and the pictures are tiny. One of these pictures appears on a page of pictures with a 1930 float at the top center. It is dated 1912.
Photo 408. The Historical Society’s copy has no name or date. However, the photo is in the “1976 Bicentenniel Pictorial Album Pawnee County Nebraska.” Unfortunately, the pages of that voluminous publication are not numbered, and the pictures are tiny. This picture appears on a page of Table Rock pictures, which include a fairly large one of the first clay being taken from Norris pasture, and the caves at Goat Hill on the upper right. It is captioned as having been taken in 1914, and the four girls in the foreground as Mable Murphy, Lucy Broyles, Myrtle Mort, and Elizabeth Barrett.
Photo 409, south side street scene with “cell phone” lady. When I posted it on Facebook with a question about when it was taken, Kim Vrtiska obseerved that it was prior to the 1920 fire. Sherry Winkinhofer commented, Edwardian clothing on the ladies. The knickers on the young men would also be appropriate for that era.The term Edwardian may be taken to mean the period which encompasses the mid 1890s to the outbreak of World War 1 in 1914. But from most pictures I've found, I would guess 1910 or so.
Photo 411, house. Donna Alderman Bucher posted on Facebook in March 2015: Photo 411 most recently was the Methodist church parsonage. I baby sat Rev. Alvin Trucanos children there and he was at the Methodist church.
