Elizabeth is from Kansas City and vacationed in Table Rock with her husband in July 2017. Of course she loved us..... She is also a photographer. While she usually does weddings and graduation pictures, she shot a number of pictures for us. She says, "I love old buildings!" And she does!

This museum of the Table Rock Historical Society is filled with school desks and school pictures and more. There were 78 school districts in Pawnee County and this one was for District 17. It was also known as the Mumford School -- many schools had unofficial names based on the families who first attended.

pleasant valley country school
built in 1873
Pleasant Valley served School District 32. It is often referred to as the "rock" school or the "stone" school. It has been rescued by an organization of alumni. George Tomek has been the "project manager" and usually serves as the tour guide. Liz's visit was a drive by so George did not have an opportunity to run up the flag as he often does for visitors.

This is school is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was saved years ago by an organization of 13 alumni, all of whom have passed away. The present owner of the property lives next door.
