bruce mccoURTNEY'S LAST STEAM ENGINE
In 2015, Delores McCourtney Penkava shared a variety of family pictures, including this one of a steam engine owned by her dad, Bruce McCourtney. On the back is written that it was a 50 H.P. Case engine, No. 33661; the missing language says that it was built in 1916.
When these photos were posted on the Historical Society's Facebook page, it drew important comments. This steam engine is alive and well and tenderly cared for. Roy Mullin reported it was the steam engine that his club runs.
Bruce sold it to Mark Doling, and we bought it from Mark in 1999.
We will be steaming this engine at Deer Creek in June, Waverly in July, and Table Rock, Humboldt, and Pawnee City in September, Come watch!
Knowing this is the engine, we were able to find some other photographs of it because the Steam Association brings it to Table Rock for Living History Day ever year. Here it is in 2015:
