Oh, the hats they wore!
Historical Society member Luella Hinrichsen ran across a comment in the Table Rock Argus of May 19, 1904, by editor Frank Taylor. He defended the large hats worn by women, saying:
They always prove a blessing, for many is the time we have sat behind them in church and slept undisturbed throughout a whole sermon."

This picture is way before World War 1, so they are both long gone now. I hope that they had a happy life together. And that she continued to wear adorable hats like this one. Photo 1700.
