MEET THE 1909 GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM!
In the 1970s, the "first" girl's basketball team was formed -- they thought! Until this picture came to light, showing the true first team was formed long ago. Was there a team only that year, or were their multiple teams? The answer is lost in the mists of the past. We have only this picture to instigate the thought -- how many teams were there, and how good were they? And did they ever play the boys?....

We lost in the Regional game to Diller. We qualified for State the next year . We won the first game against Pleasanton and then lost to Schikley. |

A few young ladies got together to form team: Lori Vrtiska, Glevon Covault, Linda Gottula, Nancy Willet, Ella Burger, Donna Branek, Julie Harris, Barb Tomek, Kathy Gottula, Terri Vrtiska, Teresa Dugan, and Deanna Frederick
December 1, 1977, the season opens with a huge ad in the paper.
