EASTER
lATEST TO THE EARLIEST
2020
co-sponsored by the community club & the rescue squad!
This year, families drove around following clues to find letters, then unscrambling the letters to make a magic word. The last clue led them to the Office of the Easter Bunny, Table Rock Branch, where Mrs. E. Bunny and Katy Kreifel of the TR Rescue Squad dispensed treats to those who knew a magic word.
Sharla Sitzman devised the clues, Sherry Winkinhofer & Shannon Edwards made up all the signs with the letters, and Suz Ellis helped get all the signs out. These were left up overnight at the request of some searchers who wanted to work more of the hunts out. (There were 3.) |

This year, the village easter egg hunt was co-sponsored by the table rock community club and the table rock rescue squad.
Mrs. Elizabeth ("Easter") Bunny reported that her baby eggs had been stolen but she believed they had been hidden in the park. She asked the children to spread out to do a search & rescue. As children brought eggs to her, she thanked them with a hefty bag of candy donated by the rescue squad, a 50 cent piece from the Community Club, an easter egg decorated cookie by Jennifer Newman, and a toy from Sput Turnbull. It was quite an assembly line, and there were many smiling faces! There were about 40 kids this year, and twice that in adults. Lots of moms & dads & grandparents!

Our first winter Easter Egg Hunt in the town square went well. The main problem was getting the eggs laid in the brisk wind. The eggs that were laid in the open rolled across the grass like tumbleweeds. The eggs found sheltered spots and also were taped to odd places and hung from trees.
We had a great turn out with about 35 children, along with parents and some grandparents, too. As usual, the eggs were empty, which at first dismayed some newcomers who had not listened to the instructions at the beginning. However, all were pleased in the end. Miss Bunny (yes, she was a rabbit), traded baskets of eggs for treats and toys. Pictures were had by all. Then, it being freezing cold and windy, the park quickly cleared. Within half an hour, the kids and Miss Bunny had come and gone, cold but happy.
Miss Bunny was played by Sherry Sitzman Winkinhofer, who designed and made her own costume. The last couple of years, she had been the puppeteer for Mr. Bunny, who had dispensed treats from a huge puppet theater on the stage. "I like this better," she said. "It is so much fun to interact with the kids face-to-face. I couldn't even see them when I was inside the puppet theater and this year I got to trade smiles with them."

2016
In 2016, the rain sent us indoors to the old theater, where Mr. Bunny and Mr. Cheese were ensconced in a puppet theater on the stage.

It was a warm but VERY VERY windy day. We had a photo board and a little chair set up with a colorful background. And eggs. Lots of eggs.
