BOB WORKMAN, COUNTRY POET
Doug & Kellie's collection on the website begins with a little treasure, a video of Doug's dad Bob Workman reciting a poem.
Bob Workman died a "Humboldter," but Table Rock claims him, too. He was probably born in Table Rock, and the family lived here at the time of the 1920 and 1930 censuses. In 1920, Bob's dad Howard was a single young man living in Table Rock with his parents, David Edward & Lydia Workman, and siblings Clarence & Blanche. In 1929, Howard married Ruth Jenkins, and the 1930 census shows them, in Table Rock, with Bob's parents. And in 1930, Bob was born.
Howard's parents had brought the family to Table Rock from Aspinwall -- which no longer exists -- and after went for a while to Franklin -- which no no longer exists. Is that poetic justice of some sort?
While Bob did not graduate from Table Rock, he still is worthy of honoring for his telling of this poem.
