The beck family
The 1920 fire on the South side of the Square destroyed a building owned by J.C. Beck. He was one of only three owners who rebuilt. The articles about the fire mention this::
J. C. Beck was born in Pennsylvania. He married Alice McKessie in 1884 and had three children, Laura, Carl, and Ella. His obituary, October 10, 1930:
family members - laura beck allen, one of j. c. beck's daughters
family members -- ella beck smith, one of J. c. beck's daughters

An unidentified young lady who appears very like Ella Beck. Photo 229:
Photo 46, Class of 1911. The light-haired woman on the far right is identified as Ella Beck. Perhaps the light hair is a vagary of the photographic process.....
Is this the grave of Ella Beck Smith? The obituary of John C. Beck identifies his children as including Ella Beck Smith of Evergreen, Colorado. J. C. and Alice Beck were married in 1885. There is the grave of an Ella Smith in the Evergreen Cemetery, an Ella who was born in 1886. Is this J. C. and Alice's daughter?
