old news
photo 175, fred nofager
It is labeled Fred Nofager and his fleet of trucks, but seems to be trucks and harvest equipment. Did he sell it or did he have crews? Don't know. But that is the Humboldt Square behind him, with the readily-identifiable arch.

photo 303, humboldt
Is it a really old picture or is just a merely old picture in bad shape? Dunno, but it's in our collection. It is not labeled as Humboldt but when posted on the Historical Society's Facebook page, the group conclusion was unanimous. It appears to be taken at the southeast corner of the square, looking from the south at the street on the east side.

thanks to the humboldt fire boys
february 13, 1920
The Humboldt Fire Department came to help fight the disastrous fire of February 6, 1920 which burned down most of the businesses on the south side of the Square. As store owners began sorting through what to do next, the Argus recounted their progress and also commended the Humboldt boys for their help.

photos of unidentified people taken at a humboldt studio
These were "cabinet card" photos taken in Humboldt. Photo 5005 and 5006. The album is filled with pictures, and those that are identified are of the Craig and Lehman and related families. Who are these people? They may have lived in Humboldt or they may have lived in nearby towns or in the countryside. But they had their pictures taken in Humboldt.
